Saturday morning: paddle Lake Allatoona

Start on the water while it's calm. Take the short paddle to Toonigh Falls, or explore the coves around Red Top Mountain. Don't own a boat? Rent one at a marina.

Saturday afternoon: hike Red Top Mountain

Red Top Mountain State Park has more than 15 miles of trails, including a short paved path to a reconstructed 1860s homestead and the 4-mile Iron Hill Trail. Bring plenty of water in summer.

Saturday night: sleep by the water

Book a Corps campsite or a Red Top Mountain cottage or yurt, and you're already at the launch in the morning. See camping at Lake Allatoona.

Sunday: walk a Civil War battlefield

The Allatoona Pass battlefield is free to visit. Walk the old railroad cut where Union troops held on October 5, 1864, then get back on the water for one more paddle.

Don't own a boat? Rent a kayak or paddleboard from Murphs Surf Shop at Little River Marina or Glade Marina, with live prices and booking online.
